Every year I go through the same ritual of comparison shopping for my cable television and high speed internet service. My geographic area is serviced by two major cable companies: Comcast and Verizon. Verizon recently installed miles of fiber into the ground and was making a strong push into our area, which materialized into a hot Verizon promotional offer of a 19″ Sharp LCD HDTV (this expires 2/3) for customers who signed up for the Triple Play package of cable television, high speed internet, and phone service. Not only that but Verizon’s prices in our area were even better, at least compared to the offer that I got from a Comcast CSR. Comcast shouldn’t be too disappointed, I gave them two solid years of services after taking advantage of great Comcast television and internet promotion deals two years ago.
Cable companies will try to earn as much as they can from you, it’s only fair that you try to save as much as you can.
