Finding Your Bank’s ABA Number

If you’ve ever set up a direct deposit or some other electronic transaction, you probably needed to look up your bank’s American Bankers Association (ABA) routing number or transit number. If you have a personal check with you, it’s easy to read off your check. If you don’t have a check, you can always look it up online through the Federal Reserve E-Payments Routing Directory.

On A Check
Your check has a series of numbers running along the bottom of the check. The leftmost nine digits, usually surrounded on the left and right by a series of three boxes, is your bank’s routing or transit number. This is the easiest way to get your ABA number.

Federal Reserve E-Payments Routing Directory
If you visit Federal Reserve E-Payments Routing Directory, you can try to do a keyword search of your bank but it can get very difficult unless you know where your bank is headquartered.
