If you’re looking to get a copy of your credit report from Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax, skip the “free credit report” promotional banners and links you see everywhere. You can get it for free, as ordered by the US Government, every year. FREE. You don’t have to sign up for anything, you never have to pull out a credit card, simply visit AnnualCreditReport and request your report.
This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
What you will not get is a copy of your credit score, which is what you might be interested in. For that, you’ll have to turn to one of the trial services (such as this one from Experian) you see advertised everywhere. I would just try the trial, get your score, and then cancel it.
