The key to this hack is to get Amazon to think you really want to buy something, by saying you own something similar or related to that item. When Amazon thinks you want to buy something, they’ll knock 5% off the price and throw it into your Gold Box Today’s Deal! Now, in order for this work, you first need to sign out of your usual account. That account has a ton of historical information in it and Amazon is too smart to let the following trick work on someone they know so much about. Now, follow these steps:
- Sign out of your account, clear your cookies, and log onto Amazon.
- Create a brand new account.
- Now pick a product that’s related to the one you want to buy, something that is similar to or an accessory to the item you want. The prime example is a video game for a video game system or a controller for a video game system, do a search for that item.
- On that item’s page, you want to scroll down to where it says Rate this item to improve your recommendations. Underneath that header should be a rating selector and a check box for “I own in.” You will need to sign in your new user now if you haven’t already.
- Click that box and rate the item.
- Return to the homepage and look for the Gold Box and click it.
- On your Today’s Deal page you will see a bunch of items, one of them is likely going to be your target product (the one related to the item you just told Amazon you owned) and it’s going to be 5% off.
